Make your way to Kilkenny for Santa’s official arrival to the city on Saturday 30th of November to launch the 2024 Yulefest Christmas Market!  Visitors to the festival can expect festive treats, creative crafts, live music and family entertainment each weekend, along with a Christmas light trail and special events each week. Find out more here.

St Canice’s Cathedral Christmas Tree Festival

Taking place from Thursday 5th to Monday 9th December. Featuring spectacular, creative, quirky Christmas trees of all kinds, in the stunning setting of St. Canice’s Cathedral. This annual display is a unique Christmas event for all ages to enjoy!

The collection on display is a community collaboration. With local groups, families and individuals invited to submit a creative Christmas tree, created out of any medium and in any shape or size. Visitors will have a chance to vote for their favourite in a range of categories. 

Christmas Decoration Workshop

Join us on Saturday 14th December, from 11am – 12.30pm for a Christmas Decoration Workshop. Children will create their very own festive paper decorations during this hour and a half workshop, learning creative ways to fold paper into something joyful and beautiful, to add to the festive decorations at home!

St Canice's Cathedral is delighted to present A Festive Evening with The Lady Desart Choir and Friends.

We are delighted to have one of Kilkenny's finest choirs back with us again this year. This event has grown year on year and it is now a highlight on the St Canice's Cathedral event calendar. To avoid disappointment, get your tickets early here.

Festive Light Displays and Tree Lighting Ceremonies

Kilkenny sparkles during the holiday season thanks to its festive light displays. The city centre is aglow with strings of twinkling lights adorning buildings and trees, creating a cozy, magical ambiance. In addition to the city centre, Kilkenny Castle and its surrounding grounds are illuminated, making the medieval fortress look even more enchanting. The castle grounds offer a beautiful backdrop for winter strolls and festive photos.

Medieval Mile Run

Kilkenny City Harriers bring you Irelands Medieval Mile run on November 29th in association with Yulefest Kilkenny.

Open to all levels the run takes place through Kilkenny city and along Kilkenny’s famous Medieval Mile. With twinkling Christmas lights, a live DJ and a Parade finish, a festive atmosphere is guaranteed! Find out more here.

Midnight Mass and Christmas Day
